The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology is located in
Socorro, (approximately 70 miles south of Albuquerque off Interstate 25) in
Socorro County, NM, and has an enrollment of about 1500. Student housing is available for 500.
The Petroleum Recovery Research Center is the gem of an otherwise outstanding curricula. The four research groups are: Petrophysics and Surface Chemistry; Gas Flooding Processes and Flow Heterogeneities; Reservoir Sweep Improvement and the Reservoir Evaluation/Advanced Computational Technologies programs.
The Center uses the advanced software of RockWorks2002 and RockWare Visual Seismic to map geologic information.
