Las Vegas is in San Miguel County, and in the Northeast New Mexico region (of which it is the county seat). You can find Las Vegas located east of Santa Fe between Santa Fe and Tucumcari along Highway 104 near the Gallinas River and Storrie Lake. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 16,487, an increase of 1,734 since 1990. Las Vegas and San Miguel County: clean air, outdoor recreation, access to quality health care, availability of education, respect for diversity, handsom old-style houses nestled together, with newer neighborhoods that have classic modern homes, northern New Mexico architecture. There are also two National Forests within minutes of downtown, and the feeling of a small town.
