New Mexico's newest bonded winery resides at what may be the oldest viticultural site in North America. Don Juan de Onate brought settlers to the Los Luceros area in 1598, reportedly bringing grapevines with him. The Los Luceros winery building appears to be a classic adobe structure, but is in fact the first stable winery in the southwest. Located adjacent to the historic Hacienda de Los Luceros property, the winery is a beautiful reminder of the New Mexico which existed several centuries ago. Tours of the historic area are sometimes possible with advanced reservation. Tasting room hours will be on weekends and holidays, or by appointment.
