Part of the
Salinas Pueblo Missions Natl. Monument, Quarai preserves 10 large unexcavated pueblo house mounds and the remains of the 1630 church and convent of Nuestra Senora de La Purisima Concepcion de Cuarac. The sandstone church has walls about 40 feet high. Another small church may date from 1820 or earlier. A museum displays a scale model of the older church and a small collection of pottery and other artifacts. A leaflet outlines a short self-guiding trail. Picnicking is permitted.
