Laughlin is located in Clark County just across the Colorado River from the Arizona state line between Cottonwood Cove and the Arizona/California state lines along Highway 163 on the banks of the Colorado River in the Southern Nevada of the state.

Laughlin is part of the Las Vegas, Nevada-Arizona metro area.

Received national attention for 2002 gunfight between rival motorcycle gangs, in a crowded casino; three people died.
