Overton Nevada

Overton is located in Clark County northeast of Las Vegas between Boulder City and Mesquite along Highway 169 on the banks of the Virgin River near Lake Mead.

Situated just east of the Arizona state line.

Overton is the site of the Lost City, a prehistoric community of 10,000 to 20,000 people. It was settled by Mormons, who had to ward off Indian attack, drought and intense heat; the settlement was abandoned in 1870 when the region became part of Nevada and the state demanded back taxes.

Comments: Downtown traffic is busy. We stopped in the place earlier this year. There seem to be stormy weather towards evening. Housing costs sure have gone up since a few years ago. This place seems to have quite a few considerate folks in stores. For some real enjoyment, check out Lost City Museum. It's worth the admission!
