Clarence is located in Erie County between Buffalo and Pembroke along Highway 5 near Bowmansville. It is in the Western Region of the state.
Clarence is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls, New York metro area.
It was named for the English House of Clarence and known for its antiques shops. Gypsum minining and cement making became important industries in the early 1900s.
