Fayetteville is located in Onadaga County just east of
Syracuse between highways 5 and 92 between Manlius and Minoa near
Oneida Lake and in the
Western Region of the state. Fayetteville is part of the
Syracuse, New York metro area.
It was named for the Marquis de Lafayette. Settled by Cyrus Kinne, who established a blacksmith shop here. Other early industries included a sash blind and door factory, lime and plaster mills, carriage factories and sawmills.
