Herkimer is located in
Herkimer County 20 miles SE of
Utica between
Little Falls and Ilion. The village is at the junction of Hwys. 5 and 28. Hwy 51 intersects Hwy. 5 about 2 1/2 miles to the east. A source for Theodore Dreiser's 'American Tragedy' was a trial held at the Herkimer County Courthouse.
Herkimer is part of the Utica-Rome, New York metro area.
