Kingston is located in
Ulster County 23 miles N of
Poughkeepsie between Stony Hollow and Port Ewen along Interstate 87 on the banks of the
Hudson River near Ashokan Reservoir. It is in the
Southern Region of the state. The first state constitution was drafted here in the 1770s.
Well-known residents have included: Peter Bogdanovich, film director and John Glover, actor.
