St. James Mercy Health System has provided health care services to residents in the Hornell area for over 100 years. During this time, St. James Mercy has evolved from its humble beginnings in a small, rural farmhouse to the diverse and comprehensive system it is today. As a member of one of the nation's largest health care systems, Catholic Health East, they have the added resources of a network of health care providers from across the east.
Comprehensive hospital services include a state-of-the-art imaging department, 24 hour emergency department, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, intensive care unit and maternity services. Over the past several years an emphasis has been placed on outpatient services and primary care. The Southern Tier Health Associates network of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants now number over 25 providers of primary and specialty care which has greatly enhanced access to health services for residents of their area.
