Founded in 1884, Flushing Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) is
Queens first hospital. The hospital today is a 293-bed not-for-profit teaching facility located in the prosperous and culturally diverse Flushing community.
In 2001, FHMC was awarded accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Heath Care Organizations. FHMC scored 94 out of 100, ranking them in the top ten percent of hospitals in the United States.
