When the present church, a classic example of Gothic Revival architecture, was consecrated in 1846, its Neo-Gothic spire, surmounted by a gilded cross, dominated the skyline of Manhattan. The first site of King's College, now Columbia University, in 1752, the present structure was completed in 1846. The original burial ground at Trinity Church includes the graves and memorials of many historic figures, including Alexander Hamilton, William Bradford, Robert Fulton, and Albert Gallatin.
