Delaware is located in central Ohio in Delaware County (of which it is the county seat) on the banks of the Olentangy River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 18,962, a decrease of 1,004 since 1990.
Alum Creek Lake and Alum Creek State Park are just east of town while Hoover Reservoir is about 10 miles to the southeast for those that enjoy the out-of-doors. In addition, [delawasp] and Delaware Lake are located about 5 miles north of town.
Those seeking post-high school education can find it at Ohio Wesleyan University.
For golfers, the city offers Oakhaven Golf Club, a public 18-hole course; Hidden Valley Golf Course, a public 9-holer and Tanglewood Golf Club, a 6,800-yard, par 72, 18-hole, public facilty.Local attractions include the Oletangy Indian Caverns.
