Harrison State Forest is located in
Harrison County, approximately three miles north of
Cadiz, east of SR 9. The 1,350-acre facility has two campgrounds with a total of 27 campsites. Twenty miles of combined bridle and hiking trails are located throughout the state forest.
The area was purchased in 1961 and reclaimed from its former coal stripmining use. Over 100,000 trees were planted in the early 1990s over nearly 200 acres.
