Founded in 1910, Kent State University is a public university, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Its undergraduate student body is overwhelmingly drawn from Ohio. The campus is 1200 acres in a suburban setting 45 miles SE of
Cleveland. There are around 13,000 full-time undergraduates. A number of fraternities and sororities operate here. Popular majors include nursing and psychology.
Kent State is probably best remembered as the site of a bloody confrontation between student protestors and national guardsmen during the era of Viet Nam protests.
