Marysville Ohio |
Marysville is located in in central Ohio in Union County (of which it is the county seat) 20 miles northwest of Columbus. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 13,010, an increase of 2,648 since 1990.
Interesting day trips include a visit to two American castles, Mac-O-Chee and Mac-A-Cheek, about 15 miles west of town in [39091]. Mac-O-Chee was being erected in the Civil War time frame for Colonel Donn Piatt's wife but her premature demise caused the building process to come to a halt. His nephew, William Piatt, later redesigned it into a Flemish castle.
Mac-A-Cheek, a French Chateau, was built for General Abram Sanders Piatt at about the same time and has housed (at this writing) five generations of Piatts. It is named for the Mac-O-Cheek Indian tribe, a band of the Shawnee Nation.
