Montpelier is located in northwestern Ohio in Williams County about 50 miles west of Toledo just south of I-80/ I-90 on the banks of the St Joseph River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,362, an increase of 63 since 1990. The town offers Hillcrest Country Club to golfers looking to shoot a round. It is a semi-private facility with an open guest policy and features an 18-hole course built in 1929 and carries a par of 70.
