Founded in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan University is an independent liberal arts institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Competition for entrance into the college is very competitive. The student body, which numbers under 2000, is drawn about evenly from Ohio and from other states and foreign countries. The university engages in intercollegiate competitions in a variety of men's and women's sports. A high percentage of students belong to either fraternities or sororities. Among the more popular majors are zoology, psychology, economics and management.
