South Point is located in southeastern Ohio
Lawrence County about 30 miles southeast of
Portsmouth on the banks of the
Ohio River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,235, an increase of 412 since 1990.
As the name might imply, the town is the southernmost in the state. It is on the southern edge of the Wayne National Forest and just 15 miles southeast of Lake Vesuvius and the accompanying Recreation Area.
