Springfield

Springfield, founded in 1801 and established as a city in 1850, is located in east central Ohio in Clark County (of which it is the county seat) about 40 miles west of Columbus along Highway 68 and 41 on the banks of the Mad River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 65,568, a decrease of 4,919 since 1990.

Clarence J. Brown Reservior and Buck Creek State Park are just northeast of town for those seeking to commune with nature.

If higher education is what you need, Wittenberg University may just fill the bill.

Golfers will appreciate the selection of public courses in the area. These include Locust Hills Golf Club, a 27-hole hole layout in which the golfer may select any two 9s for his/her 18-hole round; Reid Memorial Park Golf Course, which offers two distinct 18-hole courses; Snyder Park Golf Course, an 18-hole facility built in 1920 and Forest Hill Golf Course, a nice little 9-hole course for those wanting to get in a quick round.
