Chelsea is located in northeastern Oklahoma in Rogers County at the junction of historic Route 66 and SR 28 about 5 miles east of Lake Oologah.
The town is named for the English city and is the site of the Hogue House--a residence ordered from the Sears-Roebuck catalog in 1913 at a cost of $1,600 and delivered pre-cut by train from Chicago. It is also the site of the first non-commercial oil well in the state and is commemorated at its own Historical Site.
