Freedom is located in northwest Oklahoma in Woods County west of Alva along SR 50 north of the Cimarron River and the Alabaster Caverns State Park.
Each August the rustic town celebrates its heritage with the Freedom Rodeo & Old Cowhand Reunion which attracts thousands.
The park's cave is the world's largest gypsum cave open to the public. A 3/4-mile tour reveals 200-million-year-old selenite crystals and pink alabaster. Another local attraction is the Freedom Museum featuring relics of early town history.
Nearby Cedar Canyon was prime hunting grounds for area Native Americans as well as a hangout for Wild West outlaws.
