Healdton is located in south central Oklahoma in Carter County about 20 miles west of Ardmore along SR 76 and about 5 miles north of U.S. Highway 70.
The town arose in the midst of the wild and woolly days of wildcat oil wells and tent cities as the first producing well was drilled in 1913. The Healdton Oil Museum displays oil field equipment as well as old photographs of the era. The best known landmark in town is Discovery Well located at 4th and Main St.
