Hugo

Hugo is located in southeastern Oklahoma in Choctaw County (of which it is the county seat) on U.S. Highway 271.

At one time the town was the winter headquarters of 12 traveling circuses including the 5-ring Carson & Barnes and Kelly-Miller Bros., thereby earning its nickname of "Circus City USA." Showman's Rest/Mt Olivet Cemetery is dedicated to those who were involved in the circus life.

Nearby recreational areas include Hugo Lake with its 110 miles of shoreline, the Raymond Gary State Park east of town and 8,900-acre McGee Creek State Park to the northwest.

Other local attractions include the Goodland Presbyterian Children's Home, the Choctaw County Historical Museum and the Frisco Depot Museum, Heritage Railroad.
