Kingfisher is located in central Oklahoma in
Kingfisher County (of which it is the county seat). Located 7 miles south of the
Cimarron River just west of
Oklahoma City at the junction of SR 3/33 and U.S. Highway 81, Kingfisher is among the largest wheat markets in the world.
Highway 81 closely approximates the old Chisholm Trail which was used by cattlemen to drive their herds to Kansas stockyards prior to the establishment of the railroad. The Chisolm Trail Museum pays tribute to that bygone era.
Another local attraction is the A.J. Seay Governor's Mansion.
