Lake Wister is located in southeastern Oklahoma in Le Flore County just north of the Ouachita National Forest. The 7,500-acre lake with about 115 miles of shoreline has given rise to Lake Wister State Park as well as a half-dozen other developed or semi-developed recreational areas. Facilities and amenities include boat ramps, cabins and campsites (most with electric hookups), restrooms, showers and drinking water, picnic areas and group shelters, concessions and sanitary dump stations.
Fishing is done for bluegill; smallmouth, largemouth and white bass; channel and flathead catfish; crappie and other species. In addition, more than 28,000 acres are managed for hunters seeking deer, quail, rabbit, squirrel and several waterfowl species.
