Located southeast of Ottawa near Highway 15, Almonte is one of the first settlements in the Ottawa Valley. Nearby is a restored 1830's gristmill, and Fulton's, a maple sugar camp offering tours and demonstrations. Boyhood home of James Naismith, the creater of basketball. Once the home of Robert Tait McKenzie, sculpter, educator, and acclaimed for his work in rehabilitative medicine during World War I.
