Marathon Ontario |
The town changed its name from Peninsula in 1944 when Marathon Paper Mills built a new pulp mill. The town prospered when the mill was modernized in 1983 at about the same time gold was discovered in the area. Marathon is located along Lake Superior and offers a variety of recreational activities.
