The Sault Ste. Marie Canal was constructed between 1889 and 1895 to enable travel around the Ste. Marys River and to provide the last link in Canada's Great Lakes - St. Lawrence shipping route. Displays show the many accomplishments of building the canal. A nature trail and visitor center are located on the site.
