Thunder Bay

Located at the western end of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is Canada's third largest port and has an impressive harbor with facilities to store more than 100 million bushels of grain. A relatively new city, Thunder Bay was formed in 1970 when Fort William and Port Arthur were combined. The city boasts a network of individually landscaped gardens, known as the International Friendship Gardens, which were designed by and represent a variety of ethnic groups. Thunder Bay celebrates its rustic past with the Great Rendezvous Pageant at Old Fort William in early July. The pageant re-enacts a fur trader's rendezvous.
