Tobermory Ontario

The city was settled by Scottish immigrants in the mid-19th century. It has two harbors known as Little Tub and Big Tub - havens for ships during autumn gales. Dozen of ships have foundered in the treacherous channel to the north, and they are preserved in the frigid waters of Georgian Bay. The unusual clarity of the water makes Tobermory a favorite destination for scuba divers. The area offers excellent fishing, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. It is at the terminus of the Bruce Trail and visitors can find a variety of outfitters to provide for their recreational needs.
