The Old Alsea Bay BridgeOne of the original McCullough coast bridges comes down. |

The Alsea Bay Bridge, connecting Waldport with the northern part of Lincoln County, was originally built using sand taken from the bay. This sand has a high salt content and over the years, the bridge became unsafe.
When it was determined that a new bridge would be constructed, it was decided that the old one would be removed due to safety concerns. It was blown up with dynamite, as this video clip shows. Today, only the entrance markers remain.
