Boardman is a rapidly growing community of 3,000, on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River. |
Boardman offers several various recreational opportunities. At Boardman Park & Marina we offer a free public day-use area, boat launch, boat slips and camping along the Columbia River in a 143-acre site within walking distance from dowtown Boardman. A 3+mile paved walking trail along the river is very popular. Boardman has a Volkswalk 10K route, with American Volksport Association (AVA), credit available. Water sports on the Columbia: swimming, water skiing, sailboarding, and boating attract many enthusiasts. Fishing is an important activity, with walleye, sturgeon, bass, salmon and steelhead being popular. The High Desert Marine Walleye Derby, in mid July, is part of the annual Governors Tournament. Upland game bird hunting is also popular in the area, with ducks, geese and pheasant in great numbers. The nearby Umatilla Nat'l Wildlife Refuge Complex offers wildlife observation, nature trails, and a self guided auto tour route.
