
Cascade Locks is located in
Hood River County, along
Interstate 84 and the
Columbia River in the
Columbia Gorge and Mt Hood Region of Oregon. Situated between
Bonneville Dam and the community of
Hood River. The
Columbia Wilderness Area is found in the hills and on the cliffs above town.
This community was named for the series of locks built in 1896 on the Columbia river. The site was once called Whiskey Flats and was incorporated in 1935. This town is also the starting point of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. The Columbia River Gorge is the only National Scenic Area in America and Cascade Locks is in the heart of it.

During the cruise, a narrative is given on local history, legends of Native Americans, geology and points of interest. A snack bar and lounge is provided, with seating inside and out.
