Interstate 84

One of the two cross-Oregon Interstates, the other being Interstate 5 from the Columbia River to the California border, Interstate 84 follows closely on the path of the old US 30. It heads east from Portland through the Columbia River Gorge Nat'l Scenic Area and follows the Columbia River through Hood River and The Dalles, before heading southeast along the path of the old Oregon Trail.

Cutting across the northeast corner of the state, it goes through Pendleton, La Grande and Baker City before reaching and crossing the Idaho border at Ontario.

Within Portland, Interstate 84 is also known as the Banfield Expressway.
