A must see for rail-fans and train watchers. The line is the oldest continuously operated municipal short line in the U.S. The railroad is owned by the city of Prineville. With an endorsement vote of 358 to 1, the citizens of Prineville approved the building of the railroad in the early 1900 s. In 1938 Ochoco Lumber and Alexander-Yawkey Lumber moved into Prineville to help save this struggling little railroad. By the end of 1946, with improvements made to the rails for heaver loads, the railroad began turning a profit. They continue to do so today.
