During the summer, a traveler can go from a temperature of 40 degrees on Mount Hood to 104 degrees at Sheras Falls on the Deschutes River. In one day, it can be raining "cats and dogs" in the western end of the Gorge, while the eastern end is "dry as a bone." At the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum, the official Interpretive Center for the National Scenic Area, you can learn more about this amazing region and its history through exciting film, interactive exhibits, and live presentations.
