Molalla is located in
Clackamas County south of
Portland, between
Oregon City and
Silverton, off of Hwy 213. The town is also situated due east of
Woodburn on Hwy 211 near the
Columbia River and
Willamette River.
Molalla is part of the Portland-Vancouver, Oregon-WA metro area.
Because Molalla began as an agricultural community, few commercial industries aside from grain and saw milling emerged on the scene. Sawmills were necessary for building houses, barns, and later, businesses in town. Other industries, such as furniture manufacturers, were important for setting up individual households. Molalla was incorporated October 1913.
Local attractions include: Fox Memorial (located on S. Molalla Avenue at 5th Street), Skateboard Park, Leonard Long Memorial Park (formally the City Park, located on N. Molalla Avenue), Clark Park (located on Shirley St. Ave.), Sheets Field (located on West Toliver Road, offers a BMX track and baseball field).
