Established in 1944, OMSI is an independent, non-tax based educational and cultural resource center with an international reputation for excellence in science exhibits and informal science education.

The new 18.5 acre campus which opened in 1992 provides for a modern 219,000 square-foot main facility. The complex features six main exhibit halls, a 300-seat five-story domed OMNIMAX theater, a planetarium, auditorium, classrooms and labs.

The museum is open every day of the year except Christmas.
