Sandy Oregon

Gateway to Mount Hood

Sandy, Oregon (Cities) image Sandy is located at the junction of Highway 26 and Hwy 224, just east of Lake Oswego in Clackamas County.

Sandy was originally named Revenue because of Francis Revenue's nearby land claim and the location of the Barlow Trail's toll gate on Revenue's claim from 1853 to 1865. The town was able to use the name Sandy only after Troutdale gave up the use of the name at the turn of the century.

Sandy is the last substantial community on the highway to Timberline Lodge and Mount Hood.

There is also a Sandy, Utah.

Sandy is part of the Portland-Vancouver, Oregon-WA metro area.
