Highway 26

The Sunset Highway

Between its junction with Highway 101 near Seaside on the Oregon Coast and Portland, Highway 26 is known as the Sunset Highway. After crossing the Coast Range Mountains, it passes through the agricultural lands of western Washington County before entering downtown Portland.

Highway 26 next heads toward Mount Hood through Sandy, eventually reaching Madras, where it crosses Highway 97. It makes a junction with Highway 126 in Prineville, then heads eastward across Eastern Oregon. The only town of any size that it meets is John Day before Vale near the Idaho border. Just before Ontario, Highway 26 turns south and crosses the Snake River at Nyssa.
