The unincorporated community of Tygh Valley is located on Highway 197, 30 miles south of The Dalles, just north of the White River in Wasco County.

Tygh Valley is named after the Tygh Indian tribe, which inhabited this region.

This small resort community is also situated between Dufur and Maupin, along Interstate 197.

Nearby Deschutes River provides outdoor enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy excellent Whitewater Rafting and Fishing. The historic Oregon Trail passed through Tygh Valley, where the Mount Hood National Forest is situated two miles west.
