Wedderburn is the small community at the north end of the bridge carrying Highway 101 across the Rogue River. The community of Gold Beach lies at the south end of the bridge.

Wedderburn post office was established in 1895. The community was founded by R. D. Hume, a prominent Pacific Coast businessman who had fishing interests at the mouth of Rogue River. He named the community for an ancestral home in Scotland.

Cape Sebastian State Scenic Corridor is a popular attraction 7 miles south of Wedderburn, supplying visitors with a large variety of Outdoor Activities.
