The county seat of Yamhill County, Oregon, is McMinnville, at the junction of Highway 99W and Highway 18 to the Oregon Coast. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 83,424, an increase of 17,873 over the 1990 census. Yamhill County is only 718 square miles and was established in July of 1843. Located at the top of the Willamette Valley, Yamhill County is at the heart of Oregon's wine country. This area of Oregon was one of the earliest to be settled.
