Avenue of 444 Flags |
A paved avenue is lined with 444 American flags, one for each day that 53 American hostages were held captive in Iran under the reign of the Ayatollah Khomeini. The flags fly 24 hours a day as a symbol of hope and freedom. A monument and eternal flame are dedicated to the eight US servicemen who died trying to rescue the hostages in April 1980. Located in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
