Bethlehem is the only city in the state located in two counties,
Lehigh County and
Northampton County. It is just east of
Allentown along Interstate 78 on the banks of the Lehigh River near the New Jersey state line. Home of the
Lehigh University campus.
Bethleham is known as Christmas City, USA, due, of course, to its name. The historic Sun Inn, dating back to 1758, welcomed George and Martha Washington as guests, along with other American patriots. The city also had the first girls-only boarding school in the U.S., which opened in 1743.
