Bushy Run Battlefield State History Site |
This 200-acre historic site marks the location where the British and American troops, led by Colonel Henry Bouquet, defeated the Indians on August 5-6, 1763 during the Pontiac War. This defeat prevented the capture of Fort Pitt and re-opened communication and supply channels. There are many different types of activities at the Battlefield. Along with a museum that holds many historic items, there are several walking nature trails with information cards describing the plants and trees in the are a. The museum also offers many educational programs, special events, and picnic areas. In addition, a Battle of Bushy Run reenactment is held every year.
