Cliff Park Inn and Scottish Golf Course

Situated on 500 acres along stone cliffs overlooking the dramatic Delaware River Valley. Built as a farmhouse in 1820 by George Buchanan, by the turn of the century, the family converted his home into a small summer hotel catering to Milford's burgeoning population of summer families. These vacationers brought with them a passion for recreation, and in 1913, the rolling sheep meadows surrounding the inn were transformed into a nine-hole golf course. Non-golfing guests sat on the inn's long porch and watched players dressed in plus fours, caps and argyles, and armed with brassies and niblicks, whack gutta-percha balls across the course. Today, guests relax on this same porch, watching golfers as they tee off, just steps away from the front door.
