Cresson is located in Cambria County just west of Altoona along US Highway 22 near Ebensburg. Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is located in Cresson. Also notable, Rober Peary, American explorer credited with leading the first party to reach the North Pole, was born in Cresson. Cresson is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania metro area.
